09 Dec Conference: Anniversaries (December 2021)
The theme of the 2021 conference was Anniversaries. At the beginning of 2020, the Business Archives Council of Scotland was preparing to celebrate its 60th anniversary with a range of events planned for throughout the year. Unfortunately few of our activities took place and as we wrap up our own thoughts on sixty years of BACS and reflect on the changes to our anniversary celebrations we’ve decided to make anniversaries the theme of our 2021 conference.
The programme was as follows:
10:00 Welcome. Tony Slaven – Reflections on 60 years of BACS
10:15 Joan Auld Lecture: Ray Stokes – The Business Historian and the Company Anniversary: Honoured Guest or Uninvited Intruder?
10:45 Anna Stone – Aviva: We’re 325 years old – so what?
11:05 Q&A and BREAK
11:15 Jacqui Seargeant – Celebrating 175 years of Dewar’s Whisky
11:35 Ian Ritches – The National Trust for Scotland at 90
11:55 Q&A and BREAK
12:05 Allison Foster – Making Anniversaries Taste Better: Sainsbury’s 150th Anniversary Celebrations and Q&A
12:30 AGM
13:00 Finish
The conference will be followed by the BACS AGM where a summary of the years events will be provided and officers elected onto the committee for 2022.
