Since 1977, the Business Archives Surveying Officer has worked with businesses, trade and professional associations, and trade unions to preserve and promote Scotland’s business heritage. Providing specialist advice and guidance on the management of business archives to industry, archive professionals and public bodies, the Surveying Officer helps organisations both safeguard and realise the value of their documentary heritage.
The Surveying Officer works closely with the Business Archives Council for Scotland and as the Scottish representative of the UK-wide Crisis Management Team is the first point of contact for records at risk due to liquidation, merger or restructure.
