06 Dec Conference: Understanding Technical Archives (December 2012)
The Business Archives Council of Scotland’s 2012 conference was organised in association with the Archives and Records Association Scotland and held in Glasgow at the Mitchell Library. The theme was understanding technical records and it aimed to introduce members of both organisations to procedures and processes for handling technical records within their archive collections. Technical records are plans, drawings, maps and photographs (often found in construction, engineering, architectural, design and manufacturing businesses) that provide evidence of the creation and development of products or sites within business and organisational collections.
The Annual Joan Auld lecture was given by Professor John Hume on the subject of Scotland’s Industrial Past in the Later 20th Century
